Mixing Money & Religion... :-(
Can money and GOD mix? Really tough question to answer.
Recently, I read about how much New Creation and City Harvest pay to their leaders... numbers quoted were up to SGD500K and more! Incredible! First thought was that I should consider this alternative career when I was younger or is it too late for me to take on such a job!... but that is unbecoming of me to think of these people in this way! These are men inspired by GOD to take care of his flock right? So, if one is not inspired, one can never take on a role liked this so it is not a job that one can apply for. Still SGD500K... most Singaporeans never see such money in their life time not to mention get an annual pay cheque of this size. After getting off that emotional cliff, I turned my thoughts to the Father Patrick, Father Iggy and Father Chris in Holy Family. The Catholic Church takes care of them and GOD provides for all the rest. Sure I heard that the congregation provides lots of material stuff as well. I don't really know but I do believe they live comfortably. Would they have been more comfortable with SGD500K or driving around in a BMW 5-series... sure! But that is not the way of the religious in the Catholic faith. Mother Teresa was a fine example of someone doing much for GOD's flock with little and there are many more whom we can quote.
It is not my wish to judge what is right or wrong or offend good friends from the above 2 churches or any other religious organizations which pays its leadership lots of money. All I am doing is just pen down my personal responses to a newspaper article. Personally, I find 2 areas where big sums of money corrupts its ideals as the ability to operate from very high moral grounds is prefered. One area is religion and the other is country leadership. I guess I am just ready to give my thoughts on religion and will leave country leadership to another day.

This is a really sensitive topic. My jaws dropped when I saw the article. Reminded me of some leaders from charitable organisations who got rich, famous, later convicted ( rings a bell?).
Yes,... I don't remember this guy you are talking about. Lynette met him after that incident and felt that he has come to terms with what he has done and perhaps also got peace with the LORD. :-) Yes, I still think mix money with religion is a bad idea...
