AWARE - A prime example of human nature at work!

After the weeks of the Aware saga hitting front page headlines, I had decided to read up on this since it had attract some many to comment (including ministers, religious groups, etc.). Frankly I don't know what to say about this whole episode... I confess that I did not even bother to spend time reading all the Straits Times articles as there were way too many and I was more concerned about Swine Flu, global economies melting down, etc.

One thing I can see is that Aware's membership grew from 300 to approximately 3000 and that means 2700 new members may now have some voice about what Aware should or should not do in the future... to be Pro Family vs Pro Choice, to rehire old guards into lead appointments as it was before they resigned or were fired, to screen Spider Lilies or another movie with Rainie & Isabelle again, etc. Just liked our General Election right?... perhaps slightly more drama and excitment!... Now that they have kicked out the "strangers" Exco... the question remained is whether the new "old-guard supported" Exco can deliver what the 3,000 members want. If they don't or don't speak the right language in the coming weeks, will other factions in Aware push for another EGM to take Dana & gang out in a few weeks from now. Perhaps less likely... since the new Exco is led by an ex-President who surely must have a good idea what Aware stands for and should promote with its members... surely that will ensure conformity in Aware's future actions and programs. Of course, does conformity means what Aware will go back to do exactly what it did before Josie & gang came into power... i.e. do what it had done when it had 300 members. Too many questions... only time will provide the answers.

As for Josie & gang, if their intention was to bring about change, perhaps they have done so even with this chain of events. You think they will strike again with some other association or organization... :-D

Lastly, I must say that the first thoughts that came to my mind was Thai Politics. Don't you see the similiarities - white T-Shirt vs Red T-Shirt, death threats, etc. For me, I am still deciding whether I should laugh or cry! Perhaps, I should just go back to reading about Swine Flu (H1N1)...
